ProQual Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Skin Science for Aesthetic Practice

The ProQual Level 4 Diploma in Aesthetic Treatments and Skin Science is a nationally recognised, Ofqual-regulated qualification. It is designed for learners who have completed the Level 3 Pathway to Aesthetics (or equivalent) and are now ready to move into hands-on, practical aesthetics training.

This qualification combines advanced skin science theory with the opportunity to carry out practical aesthetic treatments under tutor supervision. It gives you the knowledge, skills, and professional competence required to progress onto higher-level qualifications in advanced aesthetic practice.

What You'll Learn:

This diploma covers both knowledge and practical units, including:

  • Advanced skin science and anatomy

  • Professional consultation and treatment planning

  • Infection control and health & safety in aesthetics

  • Delivery of aesthetic skin treatments (such as facials, peels, or microneedling – centre specific)

  • Professional practice and client care

Course Delivery:

  • Blended learning: online theory via live Zoom classes and workbooks, combined with in-clinic practical training days.

  • Practical training: hands-on experience performing treatments with live models.

  • Tutor support: one-to-one guidance and feedback throughout.

  • Duration: approx. 3–6 months (84 GLH, 150 TQT).

Assessment:

  • Assessment is portfolio-based and includes:

  • Written assignments and projects

  • Case studies

  • Practical observations of treatments

  • Knowledge questions

  • Professional discussions

  • You’ll build a complete portfolio of evidence to demonstrate both your knowledge and your practical competence.

Entry Requirements:

  • Must be aged 18 or above

  • Provide 2 forms of ID (photo ID + proof of address)

  • Completion of ProQual Level 3 Pathway to Aesthetics (or equivalent) required

Progression Opportunities:

  • Once you complete the Level 4 Diploma, you can progress to:

  • ProQual Level 5 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice

  • ProQual Level 6 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice

  • ProQual Level 7 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice

This qualification is a mandatory step for learners aiming to progress into advanced aesthetics in line with upcoming UK regulations.
