The ProQual Level 7 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice is an Ofqual-regulated qualification for experienced aesthetics practitioners who want to demonstrate advanced knowledge, clinical judgement and practical competence in facial injectable treatments.

 

This Level 7 aesthetics course goes beyond attendance-based training. Learners must evidence safe consultation, treatment planning, ethical practice, injectable technique and complications management.

 

The programme covers temporary dermal fillers, facial treatments using botulinum toxin, client psychology, professional practice and the management of aesthetic complications.

 

Who is this qualification for?

This programme is suitable for experienced practitioners who want to:

• Gain a nationally recognised Level 7 aesthetics qualification
• Develop advanced injectable knowledge and practical competence

This is not a beginner course. Applicants must already hold suitable qualifications or meet an approved professional entry route.

 

Entry requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following routes:

 

Route One

Hold the ProQual Level 6 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice, or an equivalent qualification.

 

Route Two

Hold the ProQual Level 4 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice, or an equivalent qualification, together with a Level 6 qualification that includes anatomy and professional practice.

 

Route Three

Be a fully qualified and professionally registered nurse or doctor.

 

All applicants complete an initial assessment before enrolment. You may be asked to provide identification, previous qualifications, insurance documents, evidence of injectable training and industry experience, and proof of professional registration where applicable.

 

Learners must hold current first aid and anaphylaxis training before practical assessment.

Course outline

Learners must complete all mandatory units.

Consultation for Individualised Facial Aesthetic Treatments

Advanced consultation, medical and treatment history, facial assessment, treatment planning, contraindications, informed consent, managing expectations, clinical records and evaluating outcomes.

 

Psychological Aspects of Facial Aesthetics

Client motivation, body image, vulnerability, body dysmorphic disorder awareness, psychological screening and recognising when treatment may be inappropriate.

 

Values, Ethics and Professionalism

Legislation, professional standards, scope of practice, consent, confidentiality, data protection, insurance, duty of candour, complaints, clinical governance and reflective practice.

 

Facial Treatments Using Botulinum Toxin

Pharmacology, facial anatomy, muscular action, product preparation, dosage, prescribing requirements, treatment planning, contraindications, injection techniques, aftercare and management of undesired outcomes.

 

Facial Treatments Using Temporary Dermal Fillers

Facial anatomy, vascular structures, facial ageing, product selection, rheology, consultation, treatment planning, needle and cannula techniques, injection depth, risk reduction, aftercare and outcome evaluation.

 

Management of Complications for Aesthetic Practice

Prevention, recognition and management of vascular compromise, infection, allergic reactions, inflammatory responses, nodules, migration, asymmetry, adverse responses, emergency action, referral and incident reporting.

 

Practical training and assessment

This is a competency-based qualification. Learners must demonstrate that they can safely consult, assess, plan and perform temporary dermal filler and botulinum toxin treatments to the required Level 7 standard.

 

Assessment may include:

• Written assignments and reports
• Case studies
• Professional discussions and questioning
• Consultation and treatment-planning documents
• Assessor observations
• Practical treatments on live models
• Photographic or video evidence
• Reflective accounts
• A complete portfolio of evidence

 

Botulinum toxin treatments must be completed in accordance with a valid prescription and all current legal and professional requirements.

 

Course delivery

The programme combines tutor-led theory, guided and independent study, written assessments, professional discussions, practical training, live-model treatments, clinical observation, portfolio development and individual tutor support.

Models and academy training insurance are provided for scheduled academy-based assessment sessions.

 

Duration

Learners are normally given up to 12 months to complete the qualification.

Completion time depends on previous experience, attendance, assessment progress, practical competence, portfolio completion and quality-assurance requirements.

 

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning may be considered where a learner already holds relevant regulated units or can provide current, authentic and sufficient evidence that meets the assessment criteria.

 

RPL is not automatic. Short CPD certificates alone may not meet the required Level 7 standard.

Botulinum toxin is a prescription-only medicine. Learners and qualified practitioners must work with an appropriately qualified prescriber and comply with all current prescribing, consultation, supply and administration requirements.

 

Achieving the qualification does not automatically guarantee insurance, employment, prescribing authority, local-authority licensing or permission to practise in every setting. Learners must confirm the requirements of their insurer, local authority and intended practice environment.
